So, what does being two and a half mean exactly?

Awesome post about the terrible two’s! going through the same myself ha!

My Kid Rules... that's official!

Two and a half years our little lady Lily has been with us. Two and a half long eventful years, filled with as much misery as we have had joy!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s been wonderful (do you still go to heaven if you lie?) and having her in our lives has enriched it beyond words.

Oh, and if any of my family are reading this, don’t give me the, ‘I know what it’s really been like’, comments! We must pretend for Lily that it has been utterly wonderful.

Saturday Fun

Well today being mum is just…….having a break from my little man! and all about the Saturday fun!

His uncle and auntie are taking him to a swimming pool party! and attempting to have him over night again ha! This is going to be funny, as the last time my brother dropped him off after having him stay over night it looked like he was about to curl up and die! Alfie was a pain in the neck but hopefully, fingers crossed, wishing to god, he will be great! as if he is great! come on god please?! it means more babysitting from the uncle and auntie which is always a good thing right?! (when they have kids i will move to a different part of the country haha)

Now my brother’s girlfriend is awesome, she absolutely loves kids and offered to take Alfie to this pool party as she is also taking her niece…..Alfie loves her and she is soo nice, sweet and just awesome! great auntie material for my precious boy!

Now I’ve warned her:

1….. Alfie loves swimming – expect screams getting him out

2…..Alfie flaps when he runs – maybe be to just run after him

3…..GOOOOOOOD LUCK I’m going out for the night, Phone on Silent haha! only joking will have my phone if needed (but opps it’s expecting to have an accident on Saturday which means it will only work past 4pm on Sunday afternoon) 😉

he he!

Ha love this swimming cossy!

Ha love this swimming cossy!

So with Alfie sorted, a full 24 hours to myself – hmmm what to do??

As other parenting websites would say…..enjoy, go and have a picnic – I DO JUST WITH KIDS HANGING OFF MY LIMBS WHERES THE FUN GOING ON MY OWN, have a nice relaxing bath – EXCUSE ME, I BATH EVERY NIGHT, watch a soppy film -HA YES I’M SURE I’VE SEEN THE NOTEBOOK PLENTY OF TIMES WHEN KIDS ARE IN BED….so yeah yeah what ever….back to reality….I’m a working mum with a kiddie – i have washing, cleaning and crafting to do! so my plan is to…..

Make the kids toy box! i’m not sure if you have read my blog on the toy box i made for my old house

Link Below:

http://minimixkidsdesigns.wordpress.com/2013/07/16/toy-box-hugger-want-a-free-one/

So now I’m going to make one for our play room conservatory! I’ve had the bits sitting there for a while now so just deciding on the theme and will get crafting!! 🙂

will post some pictures when it’s done! wish me luck 🙂

Facebook V Blogging – Which do you prefer?

Being mum is just……all about my new obsession, Facebook V Blogging, I’m writing this but scheduling it for another day as i’m ranting about the Gypsies camped at Park Lane ha! just being honest!

Facebook v Blogging

Facebook V Blogging ……..It’s not like this is a hot topic of conversation or anything, just some inner thoughts i was having last night when i was having a little look on my news feed on Facebook and thinking, why do you need to tell everyone “it’s too hot”….next post “It’s too cold” because you’ve put the fan on….next post “turned fan off, now too hot” argghhhhhhh……ok i think i get the picture!

But i was thinking about this last night: Facebook V Blogging – Which do you prefer?

Me, personally i’m not a big Facebook fan to be honest. I never really post status updates like “just had a bath with nice soapy juice in it and candles” or “just cooked a lovely dinner” or “this person is a ****” so the usual comments you see from your friends or people who are on your friends list but you wouldn’t have a real conversation in the real world! I’m not really into that and that’s what i think I’ve become obsessed with the blogging world!

Don’t get me wrong, i’m just as nosy as everyone else and like looking at my news feed…. 🙂 i do like and comment on friends status that i actually see outside Facebook…..and who i’m good friends with that live in other parts of the county. I think it’s just my group of friends as well….We’re not really into the Facebook scene, we pick up our mobiles and press call or text!

So instead of posting on Facebook “ahhh i’ve just had a nice bath” (implying i don’t have on every night otherwise why would i be telling everyone about it!) 🙂 I’ve taken to blogging instead!

I’ve started blogging about the stuff that really matters to me….I’m enjoying getting followers who like what i say and reading other peoples stories and experiences! I JUST THINK PERSONALLY AS MUCH AS I WOULD LOVE TO TELL THE WORLD “I’M HAVING A CRAZY DAY” and “MY BOYFRIEND IS ANNOYING ME” then getting loads of comments like, “ohh really, what’s up?” yes like i’m going to post in public why my boyfriend is annoying me “oh just because Alfie peed on the carpet AGAIN!” I’d much rather write about a cluster of events as to why my boyfriend is annoying me, find other funny stories about the same topic and share those with blogging mummies!

But you never know, i might change my mind in a few months, as building my business has made me realise i need to use Facebook much much more…..So if anyone has any tips to get me using it again, very easily that would be great!

It would be great to know your thoughts? do you agree or not agree? that is the question….oh and sorry to you Facebookers who post those comments above, no offence meant 🙂

So Facebook V Blogging – I prefer Blogging at the moment! which do you prefer??  Please vote, and comment, would love to see the results!

Park Lane Gypsies – Is this the start?

Being mum is just…..well terrifying at the moment. Please don’t judge me but I’ve just read up on the Park Lane Gypsies in the Daily Mail. Now i know i shouldn’t believe everything i read in the news paper but still….it is pretty worrying that Romanian gypsies have already started to form make shift camps….when our borders are going to be open to them in January (again Daily Mail reporting, yes I’m a daily mail addict ha)

Now don’t get me wrong i feel really really sorry for these people, i mean to live in a poverty-stricken country they must be desperate to come here and live in parks and fields in hope of a better life but now it’s a catch twenty-two!! The are begging, pick pocketing and stealing – bad for surrounding businesses, bad for people who have worked for their money and out shopping, I’d be gutted if i was pick pocketed….My Alfie’s Nan was just before they went to Spain! The money i had given her to get Alfie some bits was stolen out of her bag when she was pushing Alfie around the shopping center…..

One of the comments in the article really riled me up! “they are waiting for the authorities to get them jobs and houses to live in” my mind just goes to the people who were born here (doesn’t matter to me about nationality, race, religion because in my eyes if you was born here in England then you have a right to live and be happy here it’s not like you have chosen to come here! I’m sure babies didn’t come out the womb saying “oh mummy can we move please?” ) BUT there are homeless people, children living in poverty already living here as well. One minute the government is cutting back on tax credits and putting benefits cap in place but on the other hand opening our borders to more people who live in poverty-stricken countries….Fine if they can work and pay into the system to bring our country back to what it once was but there’s not enough jobs for those already here or housing!!!!

Being a working mum, going back to work when Alfie was 4 months old, paying into the system, trust me i could have more disposable income being a stay at home mum on benefits rather than working….so i chose to work, not for financial gain but because i wanted to, that’s the type of mum i am, those mums who stay at home, i admire you because i couldn’t do it! it’s a 24 hour job, at least i get a break for 5 hours from my constant leg huger, 🙂 I love my son but I’m not a stay at home kind of person…… that’s just me!

So yes I’m terrified for what the future holds for my baby living in this country and hence the reason his dad wants me to get him Spanish lessons when he’s properly talking so he can have more opportunities!

Another example is, i know a little boy who is four, started nursery and hated it, his mum couldn’t get him on the bus to nursery and he was having massive fits! she finally got him to calm down and sat with him at nursery to find that, out of the class of 25 only 3 toddlers could speak English fluently…. he was being left out and, not bullied, but the other kids didn’t know how to play with him properly because of the language barrier and more toddlers knowing their language than he did! just heart breaking!

it would be great to have your comments on this! I haven’t put any images in as I didn’t think this would be right.

Freaky Tarot Card Reading

Right today I’m freaking out a bit…..!

I had my tarot cards done a few months ago by a lovely lady who has been reading tarot cards for years, I’m a big believer in this sort of thing and the spirit world. I believe in spirits, ghosts and fortune telling and I’m Sure I’m bing haunted ha! Well I had my tarot cards read when I was 18 and a lot of what came out, came true so when my mum had hers done recently I jumped on the band wagon 🙂

Well anyway….. During my reading, my cards said…..

In the near future a doctor will be present at my nans house, she will either have a doctor come to her or she go to them, it will be because of a fall and she will have broken a bone!

Right so after my reading I’m straight at my nan saying take it easy, don’t do this, don’t do that! Well anyway my mum lives with my nan, I visit every day and she’s always around people so the thought went to he back of my brain….! She has never had a fall before:

UNTILL:

Couldn’t believe it, mum was out shopping and my nan tripped over the rug hoovering and fell. She couldn’t get up for over an hour bless her, mum took her to the hospital, X-ray done, shows its too swollen to see much but they think she has fractured her wrist bone….. God love her.

Oh and my cards said I was going to have another baby!!?……..!! Ha ha (yep I’m very scared now) ha ha

So all in all a freaky tarot card reading, it comes true and now I’m re-checking my never having another baby plan!

So get well soon my nanny

Love you lots!

Passing Down Crazy

After three and a half months, the Kid’s World Quilt is complete and is hanging on the wall in its new home.

First of all, the back story.  I got a call from our pastor in March asking if I’d be interested in making a quilt for a wall in the new kids addition at our church.  I immediately said yes.  Originally it was going to hang over a stairway.  After some discussion between the powers that be that decorated, it was decided it would hang on a two story wall at the front of the building.

On March 26th, I headed to Grubers and bought fabric.  The next day, I started the quilt.

First the grass, and then the sky.  The next step was the sun.  By the end of April, the tree was added.  In May, I started making birds and animals.    In…

Mr. Ted Tutorial

I really like this idea for building up Christmas Presents for my friends little ones….can chill in the garden, glass of wine, sewing kit out……Christmas prepared! Thanks for the tutorial xx

Craft Schmaft

I mentioned in the last post that I’d been playing and I think my play may have paid off.

My boys and their Mr. Teds

Here’s a free little teddy tutorial and plush pattern that I made for the boys. They loved it. So much, in fact,  that Mr. Teds were bestowed the ultimate honor of super hero capes. And here was I thinking that the 5 year old was a bit old for softies! Bah! I made a few of these last week but the grey linen and wool felt I absolutely fell in love with. Perhaps it’s the Southern Hemisphere winter or the need for a tiny break from my usual vibrant colour. Either way, I couldn’t get enough of this combination,

Mr. Ted Softie Plush Tutorial

Material List:

  • Fabric – 30 x 60cm fabric for body (I used linen)
  • Light Brown Felt – 10 x 10cm felt for snout
  • Black felt – 10 x 10cm felt for nose…

Wellies and Shorts

Ok……Right….This is my day soooo far!

Alfie comes into Mummy at 6.00AM!!!!! why oh why!!!!! so being mum is just…..a sleepy tired mess today 🙂 same as every other day REALLY haha!

Right so my conversation with my lovely fella before bed last night…..

Me: if i’m up at 6, don’t expect me to stay awake later than 10 tonight!

Fella: but its Friday

Me: what! you going to get up with Alfie?

Fella: ha remember this statement “awww babe, i can lay in….i have no responsibilities” then finished it off with a little dance….!

Me: throws a pillow at his head…..the two fingers made an appearance ! yep i’m a silent finger one!! 🙂

Ok fair enough, i was a little over excited when i had no Alfie for a few weeks (just gone) and rubbed it in a little when we had my fella’s little man over the weekends

BUT DON’T HE UNDERSTAND!!!! that was then, this is NOW and i NEED SLEEP!!!!!

So anyway back to today! Got up with Alf and watched some ITV or whatever it is at that time! sewed some key rings for our craft fair coming up got about 4 done!! watched some interesting articles about teacher presents, yes will be blogging about that one later…..got the washing up done, put some washing on, managed to have time to moisturise my body after the shower (wow, normally i’m getting dressed WET)  so feeling pretty please with myself as normally i attempt the stupid idea that if i lay down and Alfie lays on the other sofa sorted with his nappy changed and juice bottle i might get 5 minutes of snooze time but obviously its a losing battle and we end up in a huff! ha!

but getting Alfie dressed!! ha!! well he’s going to be a style icon! wellies and shorts in 29 degrees! oh and his t-shirt says: Sorry Girls i “Heart” my mum…..well i’m sure that’s not going to be the case when he’s older…..!!

What was the point in upsetting him by putting his sandals on! Happy Alfie = Happy Mummy (with his sandals in his Nursery bag for the Childminder to put on him) ha! wicked glint in my eye! LOVE MY CHILDMINDER!

So yes loving the Wellies and Shorts combo

Tantrums to ignore or not to ignore?

But just to WARN YOU BEFORE READING!! IF YOUR CHILD IS PERFECT DON’T READ ha this will scare you into weeing your panties……!!

Ok today has been well like any other day really!!

ok well my lovely Alfie is two and half and the terrible twos kicked in around 18 MONTHS! yes 18 MONTHS and he is still hard at EVERY DAY, MORNING, NOON AND NIGHT!

Yes he has such a bad temper…..But only with me! what do i do wrong?? i ask myself every time, but the same answer pop’s into my head! YOU GAVE BIRTH TO HIM ha!! ok so do i deserve to be kicked, punched, screamed at, pinched, bitten near enough every day! i think NOT but he seems to think he can!

This morning it was all kicked off because i turned the sound down on the IPad….. then that was it! from 7am – 7.30am he screamed, kicked, punched and pinched me…I took the IPad off him (you know as you do to punish our sweet little cherubs) then took his dummy !! yep i use his bits as weapons as nothing else seems to work…. but today i did something VERY DIFFERENT, instead of the trying to put him on time out, him running off, me putting him back, same over 50 times! i ignored him when he was attacking me…...(i know seems crazy but seriously after a year of this, time outs don’t work any more, nothing works)

BUT he turned a corner…….!! whoop whoop 1-0 to mummy! ha!  Once he realised i was ignoring him thats when he wanted cuddles, kisses and Sowri Mummy, Sowri Mummy! me being too wound up by then, bruise on my arm…..replied ” Nope, mummy doesn’t talk to naughty boys” OK BIG BIG MISTAKE!! the screaming and kicking started again! so now i know to just ignore and when he says Sowri Mummy (as much as it kills me) ignore a little longer and when he’s calm start talking to him normally again!!

Alfie! be warned my gorgeous little boy! I’ve won the battle and will defo win the WAR! i’m refreshed and armed with my new tactic 😉

Ok so mummies, i’m talking to you now! the straight talking, will talk about the taboo subject and discuss with the world! it would be great if you could leave some links to any of your posts about terrible twos and how you tackle it! would be so refreshing to know its not only me! ha!!

Screaming Child 2

Will need to give this also a read! just added to see what the advice is haha!
